Great stuff.

I am pumped with all the action here lately.  Also note, Scott filled in the Google Calendar to the right. It has all the ABA races and highlights which ones are 'focus races' for the club. Also, remember you are expected to be or provide a volunteer for the SpeedTheory Hosted races on June 6th, Aug. 22nd, Aug. 23rd, and Oct. 17th.

Keep it rolling guys!

what do us first year members do if we want to participate in one of the early season races before we actually get our team gear?

Good question. The Cranky ITTs you can wear whatever you want. That being said, the club has 3 skinsuits people can use if they want to really hit one of the ITTs hard to test their fitness. Just get a hold of me if this is the case. Otherwise, just wear whatever jersey you have. Darcy is checking on the status of the clothes right now. I will have an answer as to when we should be expecting them one of these days.

OH, I guess I assumed you meant 'first years' that signed up before the clothing cut off. If you signed up after the clothing cut off, you will need to buy a jersey from the store and order one of the 'Race Team' ones when we do our second order at the end of April. As of now, there are 11 people that signed up after the deadline. So for those 11, you will need to get a jersey from the store to participate in any 'mass start' races. You can wear whatever you want in an ITT.

When does the first clothing order actually come in?

That is up to Champion-Systems. We are hoping for mid-April so everyone has their gear by Bici's races. Maybe if everyone keeps their fingers crossed, it may happen !

Are there jerseys in the shop already for people who signed up after the cutoff? Or should I wait until this shipment comes in to go pick one up?

Clarke, if you signed up after the cut off, you will have to get a jersey from the store for now. It isn't the official 'Race Team' jersey, but they are close enough that you will be allowed to race. Then when we do our second call for clothing, you will order all your clothes you want and you'll be set for the second half of the season.

Trev,

The 2008 ABA Pre-Season Road Communique states:

"Participants must wear the jersey of their club or sponsor. Those wearing professional team jerseys of any jersey that does not match your club our sponsor listed on your licence will be asked to turn their jersey inside out. It is your responsibility to check your licence to make sure your club and sponsors are listed correctly. If you are an independent rider or have forgotten your club jersey at home you must wear a jersey with a solid colour."

We'd have to check with the ABA, but reading between the lines I think new ST members who didn't get in on the first order would be able to use a plain jersey until we do a second order. I know it means some racers wouldn't be in team gear, but it does save them a few bucks. I'd hate to see a new rider who wants to do a early season race stay home simply because they can't afford two jerseys.

Thoughts?

Do you think my Replica '98 Pantani Mercatone kit is plain enough?? ;)

Yah, Darcy, you are right, I would never want people NOT to race for a silly reason like that. If they don't want to buy two jerseys, they really only need to get the one from the store for this season and use it all year. Then maybe get a 'Race Team' one next year...or maybe not. We aren't going to be changing the jersey of about 2 or 3 years now hopefully.

I am going to wear my jersey inside out. Not only because the rules say I can, but also I think it will distract other teams while they watch me try and get stuff out of my jersey pockets.
